Heat Stroke How to Prevent

Heat stroke is defined as the rapid loss of blood to a specific organ. In the elderly, the most common place for heat stroke is the brain.

A very severe form of heat stroke can be life threatening. Heat stroke can occur rapidly or over time. Many people are unaware of heat stroke and it is not often discussed when going through a heat wave.

Heat exhaustion can occur when you become overheated. It can be caused by an overheated vehicle or by staying in a hot vehicle for too long. It can also happen when you are exposed to high temperatures. This can occur when you are in a closed space such as in the home or when you are outdoors.

If you feel that you are experiencing heat exhaustion, you should stay in a cool place. Make sure you don’t stay in your car all day. You should also avoid being in extreme hot or cold temperatures. When the outside temperature drops, your body has a tendency to retain heat. The result can be extreme sweating and increased temperature.

If you experience heat exhaustion or feel that you might be having heat stroke, you should get help as soon as possible. In most cases, you can prevent a heat stroke from occurring by taking preventative measures.

There are many simple steps that you can take to keep your body cool. Be sure that you always dress appropriately for the weather. Be sure that you wear sunscreen and avoid being in direct sunlight for too long. Wear loose clothing and allow air to circulate.

If you live in an area that experiences extreme weather conditions, make sure you check your windows and doors frequently. Always wear a scarf over your mouth whenever you go outside to help with the transfer of the sweat into your lungs. Make sure that you always have the windows and doors of your car open to let air circulate.

Heat stroke can be avoided with some simple steps. In addition to protecting yourself from the sun, you should also be aware of how you will be sleeping. You may want to choose a cool and comfortable place to sleep at night so you can minimize the chance of heat stroke.

Avoid staying in hot cars if you have to. When you are going to be traveling in an automobile, do not let it sit in the sun too long.

Avoid sitting in a closed car for too long. If you need to stay inside of the car, make sure that you are in the shade for most of the time. Make sure that you put on your seatbelt and use a scarf or cover to help keep your head warm during the cooler parts of the day.

In addition to limiting the amount of time you spend in a hot vehicle, you should also avoid going outside in extreme temperatures. If you plan on staying in a very hot place for a prolonged period of time, make sure you stay inside for an extended period of time. If you are unable to keep your hands warm, invest in a sweater or a hat.

During extreme hot weather, you may want to invest in a portable heater to keep you comfortable. You can purchase portable heaters or you can use a propane heater to keep you warm. If you use an electric heater, make sure that you follow the manufacturer’s instructions on how to care for it.

Keep your hand warm by covering it with a scarf or a hat while you are inside the vehicle. When going outside, always protect your face and neck. If you are in a car, remember to always be aware of the temperatures outside. In addition to heat stroke, remember that hot sun can cause frostbite.
